What is separation anxiety?

Separation anxiety is often one of the most challenging problems to solve when training your dog. However, it is achievable if you listen to our advice and stick to it. Breaking the cycle can be tough for some owners as it requires a lot of self-control and dedication – but it is doable.

Signs of separation anxiety include:

  • Barking
  • Whining
  • Destructive behaviour
  • Self-destructive behaviour

These will occur when the dog is left alone or not given the attention it wants.

Separation anxiety can vary in degrees of severity. For example, in mild cases, a dog may whine for a few minutes when left alone before settling, whereas in more severe instances, you may be receiving complaints from the neighbours as your dog has been whining and barking for hours on end.
